Come visit Family Reading Partnership’s Big Red Reading Tent, a summer read-aloud oasis for children and families in our community!
VISIT THE BIG RED READING TENT
Tuesdays: July 5 through August 16
12:00 – 3:00 pm
Southside Community Center
305 S. Plain Street, Ithaca, NY
READ OR LISTEN TO STORIES
Children and Families–visit the Big Red Reading Tent every Tuesday to read books, have books read to you, or read to one another and experience the joy of books under a cozy, big red tent on the grassy lawn at Southside Community Center. The tent is free and open to all children!
Meet Jake and Alain, Cornell students who love to listen to books and read books aloud. Guest readers will come by to sit with children one-on-one to explore books together and children will be encouraged to take a book home with them to keep.
To provide extra incentive to join the fun BOOK BUCKS will be given in exchange for books children read, have read to them, or stories they have read and can retell to a reading buddy at the tent. Book Bucks can be used to buy a variety of items including school supplies and outdoor play items!
The Big Red Reading Tent is a collaboration of Family Reading Partnership, Cornell Public Service Center, and Southside Community Center and is inspired by the Traveling Stories program: www.travelingstories.org
